Körber Pharma, North America
Körber’s HFFS450 is a horizontal form/fill/seal technology designed for quick changeover of flexible and rigid blister packs in medical and pharmaceutical packaging. Körber says the machine can be “individually adapted to future format changes, re-tools and web width changes.” Other thermoforming machines for blisters include the BE4, ideal for applications with small batch sizes, many format changes or that use a wide variety of packaging materials. Featuring a two-lane design, it is designed to have a small footprint, and is modular in that it can be upgraded to a high-speed solution at any time. Other featured thermoform blister machines include the CP 400, marketed as a “high-performance single-lane blister machine” that is “clearly visible, easily accessible, and quick to clean.” The machine’s GMP design concept provides maximum production reliability, while the central format data management via the operating terminal enables fast format changes.
MACTEC Packaging Technologies LLC
Mactec Packaging is a supplier of thermoform/fill/seal machines for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical blister pack applications. Featured machines in Mactec’s product line is the Nano-60X, designed as an entry-level blister packaging machine for smaller production runs (including lab and R&D scale) in cGMP environments. The Nano-60X is capable of thermoforming and cold forming applications, and works with automatic or manual filling systems to form, fill, seal, perforate and cut blister packs of liquids, powders, capsules, tablets, medical devices, gummies and more. Marchesini Group manufactures robotized thermoforming machines for blister lines that handle packaging products of all sizes. Systems combine blister packaging and cartoning sections thanks to directly integrated robotized systems, reaching speeds of up to 720 blisters and 500 cartons per minute. On request, the machines can be equipped with systems for control of shape and size of tablets and with NIR systems for identification of the active ingredient of individual products in the blister.

The ORICS FFS-30 Form-Fill-Seal is an inline, intermittent motion sealing system that forms trays, cups and pouches in realtime from rollstock film. By forming trays online, this system has the ability to save the user tens of thousands of dollars by eliminating FFS-30the costs associated with purchasing and shipping pre-formed trays. With a simple tooling change, this flexible system is capable of creating multiple tray/pouch sizes and configurations. Film may be flexible, semi-rigid, or rigid (with some restrictions). Final package may be ambient, vacuumed (drawn tight around the product), gas flushed to create a gas/air filled package or vacuum gas flushed to create a true Modified Atmosphere (MAP) package.
